Hytale server hosting, run by someone who reads the patch notes
Hytale has been in early access since 13 January 2026. That means new builds land, things break, and world formats move. It runs on one 2x Intel Xeon Gold 6136 node in the Netherlands with your RAM reserved rather than oversold, a world snapshot taken before every patchline switch, and a rollback you run yourself. From €1.50 a month.
Plans
RAM is reserved at a 1:1 ratio. There is no burst allocation and no shared pool, so the figure in the table is the figure your JVM gets. Upgrades apply immediately and are prorated.
| Reserved RAM | Per month | Per GB | Notes | Order |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4GB | €1.50 | €0.38 | RAM: 4 GB DDR4 2133MT/s | Storage: 40 GB SSD | Databases: 1 | Order |
| 8GB | €3.50 | €0.44 | RAM: 8 GB DDR4 2133MT/s | Storage: 80 GB SSD | Databases: 3 | Out of stock |
| 16GB | €7.00 | €0.44 | RAM: 16 GB DDR4 2133MT/s | Storage: 160 GB SSD | Databases: 5 | Out of stock |
2 tiers are out of stock. That means the memory is not physically free right now, not that the plan is gone. Ask when it is backand you will get a real date.
What you actually get
A standard Hytale dedicated server, unwrapped, with root of your own files. Nothing here is a custom fork you would have to migrate off later.
| Component | Detail |
|---|---|
| Server binary | HytaleServer.jar plus Assets.zip, fetched with the official Hytale Downloader |
| Java runtime | Java 25, which Hytale requires |
| Transport | QUIC over UDP, default port 5520 - not TCP |
| Patchlines | Stable or pre-release, your choice, switchable per server |
| World data | universe/ directory, yours over SFTP at any time |
| Mods | mods/ directory, dropped in over SFTP or the file manager |
| Config files | config.json, permissions.json, whitelist.json, bans.json - editable directly |
| Memory | -Xms and -Xmx set to your plan's RAM. Reserved, not shared |
| Console access | Full server console and scheduled restarts in the panel |
Patchlines, updates and not losing your world
Stable or pre-release, per server
Hytale ships two patchlines. Stable is what the launcher installs by default. Pre-release carries features and content that have not reached stable yet, and it moves considerably faster. Your server can sit on either one, and you switch it yourself: stop the server, change the install branch, start it again.
The catch that catches people out is version matching. A client on stable cannot join a server on pre-release. If you switch the server, everyone switches their launcher patchline too, and you tell them before you do it rather than after.
A snapshot before every switch
Before a patchline change or a server-side Hytale update, we take a world snapshot automatically. That is not a favour, it is the only sane way to run a game that is eight months into early access. If the new build eats your world, the previous state is minutes old, not days.
Rollback is yours to run
Restoring a snapshot is a panel action: select it, confirm, the server restarts on it. No ticket, no waiting for the 07:00 to 00:00 CET window to open. The world you rolled away from is kept until you overwrite it, so you can change your mind.
Memory and view distance
View distance is the biggest single consumer of RAM on a Hytale server, well ahead of player count. A server capped near 12 chunks behaves very differently from one left wide open at the same player count. If your server is swapping or stalling, check view distance before you buy more RAM. We will tell you that in a ticket rather than sell you an upgrade you do not need.
ZFS raidz2 underneath, survives two simultaneous drive failures, and Proxmox Backup Server taking deduplicated and incremental, kept on-site and as an encrypted off-site copy.
The honest state of Hytale in 2026
Hytale was cancelled by Riot Games on 23 June 2025, reacquired by its original founder Simon Collins-Laflamme on 17 November 2025, and released into early access on 13 January 2026 on the original legacy engine after the newer C++ engine was abandoned. Development is funded for at least two more years and full 1.0 is not close.
What that means for you as a server operator, practically: the ecosystem is roughly seven months old, mods break between builds, and the tooling you would take for granted in Minecraft does not all exist yet. Anyone selling you Hytale hosting as a settled, mature product either has not run one or is hoping you have not.
We would rather you order knowing that. The hardware, the network and the backups are solid and under our control. The game is early access and is not, and no host can change that with a nicer dashboard.
Hytale write-ups
Low ping is mostly marketing: what latency numbers actually mean
Light in fibre travels about 204,000 km per second, which sets a floor no host can beat. How to spot a latency claim that breaks physics, and why jitter matters more than ping anyway.
How to connect to your server over SFTP on Windows and macOS
Step by step SFTP setup with WinSCP, FileZilla, Cyberduck and the built-in command line, plus the two things every other guide gets wrong about File Explorer and Finder.
How much RAM does your Minecraft or Hytale server actually need
View distance and entity count drive memory use far more than player count does. What to size for, why buying more RAM often fixes nothing, and the numbers from the official Hytale server manual.
Running a Hytale server in Early Access: what is different from Minecraft
Hytale ships weekly, uses QUIC over UDP, and needs Java 25. What that changes about running a server, and the honest case for waiting rather than migrating.
Switching a Hytale server to the pre-release patchline without losing your world
The pre-release patchline is where Hytale's new content lands first. Here is the order of operations that keeps your world recoverable when a build goes wrong.
Hytale hosting questions
Can I switch my server between the stable and pre-release patchline?
What happens to my world when Hytale pushes a new build?
How do I roll a world back myself?
How much RAM does a Hytale server actually need?
Is Hytale early access stable enough to run a public server on?
Do you protect Hytale servers against DDoS attacks?
Can I move my Hytale world in from another host?
Where is the server and what IP will it have?
Who answers if something breaks at 23:00?
Ready, or want to ask first?
Both are fine. Ordering takes a couple of minutes and the server is provisioned immediately. Asking a technical question first gets you an answer from the person who built the hardware, not a macro.
